Driver survives crash in Cypress, engine separated from vehicle

The driver of a vehicle survived a crash on Saturday night after the vehicle crashed into a tree in the 13000 Barker Cypress. Deputies believe the driver was possibly speeding at the time of the crash.

What we know:

Harris County Sheriff's Office officials say the vehicle was traveling southbound when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree in the center median at a high rate of speed.

The engine of the vehicle separated upon impact and struck another southbound vehicle, but no occupants in that vehicle were injured.

Deputies say the driver of the first vehicle had non-life-threatening injuries, but was airlifted to the hospital because of the high velocity of the crash.

Investigators spoke with the driver at the hospital and found no indications of impairment.
