Downtown Houston shooting update

Houston Police Department providing more details on a shooting that left one man dead in downtown Houston.

A 20-year-old man has died after he was shot in the street in Downtown Houston, and police are searching for the shooter.

The shooting occurred around 1:20 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Austin Street and Lamar Street.

Through investigation, Houston police have obtained surveillance footage that captured the shooting. Authorities observed two people standing in the road with a camera tripod. 

Houston police seek a murder suspect in a downtown altercation that left a 20-year-old man dead.

The eventual victim approached the scene accompanied by his family, consisting of three brothers and a cousin.

Costume-wearing shooter sought by Houston police

A 20-year-old man has died after he was shot in the street in Downtown Houston, and police are searching for the shooter. The shooting occurred around 1:20 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Austin Street and Lamar Street.

Police say the two groups got into some kind of argument, and an individual then pulled out a gun and fired two shots.

Houston police are now seeking assistance in identifying and locating two individuals deemed persons of interest for questioning. 

The first is described as a slim, white person with long hair, wearing a yellow and black costume with a hoodie and tail. The second individual is characterized as a man with long black hair wearing a pink or blue T-shirt.

The two left the scene in a 2024 white Mazda 3 hatchback, notable for having three stickers on the back window.

The 20-year-old man was shot in the chest. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Man shot to death in Downtown Houston

Police say an argument between two groups of strangers is believed to have led to a deadly shooting on a Downtown Houston street.

According to the preliminary investigation, police say it doesn’t appear that the 20-year-old man and the shooter knew each other.

The investigation is ongoing.
