Hurricane Dorian officially made landfall at 12:45 (EDT) on Elbow Cay in the Abacos. The Abacos are a group of islands located in The Bahamas.
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Dorian strengthened earlier on Sunday, September 1 to become the strongest hurricane in modern records for the northwestern Bahamas.
At landfall, the NHC says winds were at 185 miles per hour with gusts over 220. The pressure, at landfall, was measured at 911 millibars.
