District Attorney calls Oscar Rosales’ alleged murder of Harris Co. Pct 5 corporal ‘a death penalty case’
FOX 26's Damali Keith shares the latest after Harris County Pct. 5 Constable Office Corporal Charles Galloway was killed during a traffic stop and his alleged killer, Oscar Rosales, is behind bars in the county jail without bond.
HOUSTON - Several law enforcement agencies in Houston are expected to give a press conference Thursday afternoon on the arrest of Oscar Rosales, 51.
Rosales is accused of shooting Corporal Charles Galloway with Harris County Constable Precinct 5 during a traffic stop overnight Sunday in southwest Houston. Corporal Galloway was struck multiple times, and he died at the scene.

The press conference was held at 1 p.m. with several other law enforcement agencies at the Houston Police Department headquarters on Travis St.
During the conference, several officials spoke on the arrest, noting they hoped it would bring solace to Corporal Galloway's family, knowing his alleged killer was behind bars.
"Justice is here," U.S. Marshal for Southern District T. Michael O’Connor said. "I pray this is somewhat closure, at least somewhat in this stage for the family [of Corporal Galloway.]"

HPD held a multi-agency press conference on Oscar Rosales, the suspect linked to the murder of Harris Co. Pct. 5 Corporal Charles Galloway nearly a day after he was captured in Mexico, and brought back to Houston, where he is held in Harris County Jail without bond.
Additionally, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg noted due to the severity of the case, Rosales is facing capital murder charges, which could result in one of two ways depending on the investigation's outcome: a life sentence without parole or the death penalty.
"This is a death penalty case," Ogg said.

Oscar Rosales, shooter in Houston murder of Pct. 5 corporal captured in Mexico
Oscar Rosales, the suspect facing a capital murder charge in the deadly Houston shooting of Harris County Pct. 5 Constable’s Office Corporal Charles Galloway, has been arrested in Mexico, authorities confirm.
Rosales' captures comes after the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force, in conjunction with Mexican authorities, arrested him Wednesday without incident in Ciudad Acuña, which is located on the border with Del Rio, Texas.
He was brought back to Houston later that evening and processed at Harris County Jail, where he made his appearance in Probable Cause Court that night and a judge denied his bond.

Precinct 5 Constable Ted Heap and Asst. Chief Kevin Hubbard personally delivered accused murderer Oscar Rosales to the Harris Co. Joint Processing Center Wednesday evening. Rosales was in Corporal Charles Galloway's handcuffs. Cpl. Galloway was executed early Sunday morning during a traffic stop.
While in court Wednesday night, a masked Rosales was heard saying he knew there was a metaphorical target on his back due to his crime.
"Right here, all the officers and the security guard…if they want to try [sic] kill me right here, they can do it, whatever, I don't care," he said. "Everybody right here in this room is waiting for the chance to hurt me."

Oscar Rosales, man accused of killing Harris Co. Pct. 5 Corporal has bond denied
The man accused of killing Harris Co. Pct. 5 Corporal Charles Galloway made his court appearance hours after he arrest, where a judge denied his bond. During his trial, a masked Oscar Rosales, 51, was heard saying "Right here, all the officers and the security guard…if they want to try [sic] kill me right here, they can do it, whatever, I don't care."
Court records show Rosales went by several aliases, one of which was Mauricio Aguilar Albarenga. Under this name, the now-Rosales was a wanted fugitive, charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in 1995.
Authorities also said two of Rosales' family members are charged with felony tampering with evidence in connection to the deadly shooting.

According to charges read in probable cause court on Tuesday, Henri Mauricio Pereira Marquez, 42, and Reina Azucena Pereira Marquez, 40, are accused of wiping down a vehicle that is believed to have been involved in the shooting.
Their bond was set at $100,000 on Tuesday. If they are released on bond, they will be subject to house arrest and GPS monitoring.
Funeral services for Corporal Galloway will be held on February 1 at 10 a.m.
