Deadly shooting in northeast Houston

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Police are conducting an investigation into a deadly shooting in northeast Houston.

Officers arrived to the Valero food mart on Mesa Drive near Leycrest Road at around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say three men were standing outside of the store as one of them was pumping fuel into a car. Someone who wore a black sweatshirt walked onto the store parking lot and fired gunshots at the three men. Two of the men were wounded and the third man ran away.

The shooting suspect jumped into a black Nissan vehicle to follow the third man and fired gunshots toward him again. One of the men who were shot later died, another was in critical condition and the third was released from the hospital.

Police believe the three men were targeted.
