Closure for family, friends of murder victim Untorio Jones
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A major development in a case FOX 26 News brought to you in December 2016.
Mark Joshua Hall has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Untorio Jones. The shooting was reported at D-Bar on Dowling Street on Dec. 19, 2016. That is a day that Sandra Holbert will never forget.
"It's been very, very rough," says Holbert. "You know he still has four children and those kids still have to go home without their dad."
The night of Dec. 19, 2016, Holbert was contacted by police and told to come down to the crime scene. Untorio 'Bird' Jones' cousin was with him when the shooting took place. The relative says it started when Bird accidentally stepped on another man's foot.
"It could have excuse me, I can't buy you a drink, anything, when I got over there the last thing he said was you didn't give me enough time, after that I asked him what was going on and that's when shots was fired", says Corey Winzer.
Investigators contacted Jones' family on Friday saying that Mark Hall had been arrested in Mexico and that he was being transported back to Harris County.
"It was a joy yesterday to get that one phone call I've been waiting for, since I got the other phone call that I needed to come to that club," explains Holbert. She also says knowing the case is moving forward has brought some closure for their family.
"He took my brother's grandma's son and his brother's brother and his son's son," says Roderick Gilmore.
"Very caring, he loved his family, he loved his friends, he would give you the shirt off his back, like his mama said, he was a man of God," says Demetrius Lott.
The family tells FOX 26 that a preliminary hearing will take place on Thursday, Aug. 3.
