The Clayton County Police Department tweeted a photo on their Twitter account Tuesday showing K-9 Odin with a section of his neck shaved and clear injuries where police said he was stabbed.
In the tweet, they wrote:
“K-9 Odin is now at home getting some much-needed rest. He’ll be out of work for a few weeks and during that time, doctors plan to evaluate his progress as heals to determine if he will need physical therapy for the muscle damage he suffered.”
Police also thanked the community for all the well wishes.
Odin was stabbed twice in the neck and jaw near Allen Drive in Riverdale Sunday before the suspect, Randy Young was subdued, officials said.
Young was wanted for the shooting death of his girlfriend earlier that morning at the Brookstone Apartments in the 1000 block of Garden Walk Boulevard. Investigators said the victim was at the apartment with family members to get her things after the two broke up when she was confronted by Young. Family members told police Young fired at them but ended up hitting the woman before running from the scene. The victim died at the scene.
Young, who remains in the Clayton County Jail Tuesday without bond, was charged with malice murder, felony obstruction, aggravated assault, cruelty to animals, and injury to a police dog.
