Houston Dash midfielder Carli Lloyd, who became a national star with the U.S. Women's National Team, arrived at Bush Intercontinental Airport Sunday afternoon.

Lloyd was named the MVP in leading the United States to the World Cup championship.

She rejoined the Dash and is looking forward to helping the team build on what she and her two World Cup/Dash teammates, Meghan Klingenberg and Morgan Brian, accomplished.

Lloyd takes her place among the many Houston greats who have had success on the biggest stage in their sport.

It's really special and humbling," Lloyd told FOX 26 Sports at Bush IAH. "It's great to come home as a World Cup champion and looking forward to playing with the Dash."

Since America's victory over Japan in the World Cup championship game, Lloyd has exchanged Tweets with President Obama and spoke with him on the phone during his call to the U.S. Women's National Team.

"It's pretty cool," Lloyd said. "Not too may people can say the President has officially given them a personal shout out and could probably recognize them on the street.

"So really cool, looking forward to going to the White House at some point as well."

Lloyd will never forget the way New York City honored the U.S. Women's National Team with a parade in front of thousands.

"It was unreal," Lloyd said. "It was unbelievable to see the amount of people there cheering in red, white and blue.
"They were there for us. We etched our names in history and did something really special."
