Capybara Twins Born at Houston Zoo
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The Houston Zoo is proud to announce the birth of capybara twins to mom Sunkist on Wednesday, Sept. 23. The pair, named Squirt (female) and Surge (male) join a family full of soft drink references, dad is Pop, brother is Mr. Pibb. The two were born weighing 4.5 pounds each and after a few days, were eating solid food like produce and hay. The twins' brother, Mr. Pibb, was the first capybara born at the Houston Zoo in ten years.
Capybara are the largest member of the rodent family and are native to South America. Capybara litters can range from one to eight babies.
