5-year-old Samantha Bell was pronounced dead last Saturday night at her apartment complex at 8501 Broadway. Detectives say her 21-year-old mother Andrea Webb initially claimed Samantha fell from a second story balcony.

Relatives and friends gathered at a makeshift memorial in front of Samantha's apartment to pray, light candles, and release balloons.

They say they weren't there to blame anyone but to remember a beautiful child gone too soon.

Samantha's grandfather Henry Webb broke down several times, saying his baby was gone and he didn't know how he was going to make it. He told us he raised Samantha from the time she was a baby up until she turned four.

"I just can't stand it," Webb said tearfully. "I lost my baby."

Samantha's great aunt Cynthia Harris prayed for the child and sang hymns. Her cousin Patrick Griffin asked everyone to remember the family in their prayers.

Andrea Webb is now charged with injury to a child in her daughters death.
