Cafe shooting suspect found dead after standoff at game room
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A suspect is dead after he shot at a cafe employee and at police in southwest Houston overnight.
It happened around 12:45 a.m. at Saigon Cafe on the 12300 block of Bellaire.
Police say an Asian male went to the Saigon Cafe and pulled out a gun and started shooting into the Cafe, apparently out of retaliation for not being allowed to go in the night before for carrying a gun.
One male employee was shot in the side of the head, but it was a graze wound.
He was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The suspect ran next door following the shooting.
When HPD arrived at the scene, police searched the game room and did not find the suspect.
Witnesses told them the suspect was upstairs in the game room.
When officers went upstairs to look for him, they encountered him.
They gave the suspect verbal commands to come out, but to no avail, so SWAT was called.
After an hours-long standoff, SWAT officers went in and found him laying dead from one gun shot wound to the head.
No other suspects involved.
The five or six other people were taken into custody for the illegal gambling operation.
