New arrival lanes at Houston's Bush Airport

Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport announced the addition of eight new international arrival lanes as they prepare for holiday rush. FOX 26's Jade Flury heard from officials who explained how the lanes will be beneficial.

Houston Aiport Systems is set to open their new International Arrivals Curb at Bush Intercontinental Airport this week. The new curb is expected to alleviate traffic congestion near the airport's exit.

The new pickup location will be eight lanes wide and located where international passengers arrive at the airport. It will be located near the current arrivals area.

"The new International Arrival Curb, we’re going to open with six lanes of its ultimate eight lanes so that’s really going to have an impact from a customer service perspective," said Jim Szczesniak, Airport Director for Houston Airport Systems.

The airport director said they expect a 6% increase in travelers during the Christmas season. They said they expect about 3.4 million passengers between Bush and Hobby Airports.

"Now that we’ve got this, we can return current exit lanes that we’ve been using for the temporary curb to free flow the airport," said Szczesniak.

The new International Arrivals Curb will open on Saturday, December 14.
