On February 7, 2022, Adrian O'Dell McGee was sentenced to 5 years' probation after pleading guilty to aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

"McGee pretty much bared his bones. I'm not going to comply with probation conditions," said Andy Kahan with Crime Stoppers.

Suspect out on bond when he allegedly committed murder

A judge's decision to take no action against a 22-year-old defendant, who repeatedly violated the conditions of his probation, may have cost another man his life.

Not only did McGee repeatedly violate the terms of his probation, he picked up new criminal charges for resisting arrest, failure to identify and criminal trespass.

"When I saw a PR personal recognizance get out of jail free card not once or twice, but three times given by the elected judge," Kahan said.

According to court records, 351st Criminal Court Judge Nata Cornelio admonished McGee, telling him if he doesn't report to probation and stay out of trouble, he was going to prison.

"OK, give the guy one more opportunity but 2 or 3 times when you're on probation for a violent offense you're continually committing additional new crimes," said Kahan Cornelio's decision to do nothing more than give McGee personal recognizance bonds may have cost 34-year-old Johnny Felder his life.

Police say McGee and another suspect shot and killed Felder at 7800 Tidwell Road on November 23. Mcgee's bond for the murder charge is set at 750 thousand dollars.
