What we know:

In February, a travel ban was lifted for brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate, who are both facing human trafficking charges in Romania.

They landed in Florida on Thursday, Feb. 27 and Andrew Tate confirmed to FOX News Digital that he’s purchased a Florida penthouse and is now a resident of the state.

What we don't know:

It wasn’t clear under what conditions the Tates were allowed to leave Romania, or who made the request to modify their obligation.

Dig deeper:

Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu said this month that a U.S. official in the current Trump administration had expressed interest in the brothers’ legal case. The brothers are avid supporters of President Donald Trump and have millions of online followers.

Local perspective:

Tate sat cageside for UFC 313 inside T-Mobile Arena on Saturday night, one night after attending Dana White’s Power Slap 12 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas.

White was seen shaking hands and hugging Tate and his brother, Tristan, on Friday, when the UFC president and CEO could be heard on a viral video saying: "Welcome to the States, boys."

Who is Andrew Tate?

Andrew Tate, 38, is a former professional kickboxer and self-described misogynist who has amassed more than 10 million followers on X. He also runs an online academy where he says he teaches young men how to get rich and attract women.

He previously was banned from TikTok, YouTube and Facebook for hate speech and his misogynistic comments, including that women should bear responsibility for getting sexually assaulted.

Who is Tristan Tate?

Tristan Tate, 36, is Andrew Tate’s younger brother and also a former kickboxer.

The brothers are both dual U.S.-British citizens.

Tate brothers charged

The backstory:

The Tate brothers and two Romanian women were arrested in Bucharest in late 2022.

The four of them were accused of forming a criminal group that lured women to Romania, where they were sexually exploited. Andrew Tate was also charged with rape.

The case has faced various setbacks in going to trial, but hasn’t been closed.

Dig deeper:

Criminal cases in Romania can often drag on for 5 to 10 years and the accused can, in some cases, leave the country during that time unless judicial restrictions stipulate otherwise, former Romanian Judge Cristi Danilet told The Associated Press.

What they're saying:

Andrew Tate has repeatedly claimed that prosecutors in Romania have no evidence against him and that there is a political conspiracy to silence him.

"We live in a democratic society where it’s innocent until proven guilty. And I think my brother and I are largely misunderstood," Andrew Tate said Thursday in Florida.

Meanwhile:

Florida’s attorney general also announced last week that his office has opened a criminal investigation into the brothers.

The brothers also face a separate defamation case in Florida dating back to July 2023, when a woman accused them of imprisoning her in Romania.
