An Alabama woman was killed on her way to work after a wrench flew through the windshield of the vehicle she was traveling in on August 8.

The Beasley Allen Law Firm identified the victim as Earlie Harris.

The firm said she was traveling with her son Cedric, who was the driver, at the time of the incident on Interstate 65 near Montgomery.

"She was the backbone. She was the glue that held everything together. I mean, through ups and downs, she was always there," Cedric Harris told WFSA.

"All of a sudden, something flew through air, through the window. I ducked down and looked up, and my mom was bleeding, and I pulled off the interstate," he further told the outlet.

"The family is standing strong and trying to honor Mrs. Harris’s commitment to service to the community," the firm said in an email to FOX Television Stations. "While the struggle and pain are unrelenting, the family is trying to stand strong in honor of Mrs. Earlie Harris, who was the anchor for the entire family."

The firm is offering a reward for information that will identify the at-fault driver.
