7 victims come forward in case of counterfeit lip injections at Houston spa

Alegna Delgado is facing a felony charge accused of injecting a patient's lips with an unknown substance without a license.

Prosecutors say she was operating out of ABS Aesthetic at 7909 Hillcroft in Houston. They say the business was being investigated for a separate financial crime. They say when police realized the kind of services the business was offering, they checked into their medical licensing.

"The defendant is not licensed, certified, anything, there's no medical practitioner, nothing is there," said Sheila Hansel, Assistant District Attorney for Harris County. "There's certainly no doctor there."

She says on Monday an undercover officer went to the spa and Delgado agreed to give her lip injections for $500, so they made the arrest.

She says they made contact with one patient who is the victim in this case, but several more have already called police.

"Since the arrest have been made, six more women have come forward and are being interviewed by the police department," she said.

She says the most disturbing detail is that it's not clear what was being injected into these patients, saying they had to ship all of the products to the FDA for testing.

"They were all counterfeit - they were from Korea. They're not lawful to have in the U.S., imported into the U.S., and certainly not lawful to stick in anybody's body," she said.

Records show Delgado posted her bond.
