A 2-alarm apartment fire in the Greenspoint area of Houston on Monday left about 24 units damaged, officials said Tuesday.

The fire sparked up on the 13000 block of Northborough Drive on Monday around 6:20 p.m.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the eaves and roof of a three-story apartment building.

They made an offensive attack and conducted a primary search; however, the fire began to spread through the common attic and crews initiated a defensive attack.

The fire was upgraded to a second alarm and a collapse occurred on the second floor.
