GALVESTON, Texas (FOX 26) - United States Coast Guard air and boat crews are conducted a search on Tuesday for 51-year-old Michael Watkins and Raymond Janik in the areas of Galveston Bay, Trinity Bay and East Bay. The two men were last seen aboard a white and red 20-foot Larson boat with a blue top.
The families of the boaters contacted the Galveston County Sheriff's Office at approximately 9 a.m. on Tuesday, after the men had not returned from fishing on Monday.
The sheriff's office notified USCG Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders. The initial report stated that the boaters had departed from the Bayshore Park boat ramp at around 7 a.m. Monday and were scheduled to return at around 1 p.m. Monday.
Crews aboard Station Houston and Station Galveston 29-foot response boats and aircrews aboard an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and an Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane were used in the search effort.
Galveston County deputies found the truck and trailer at the boat ramp on Tuesday morning.
