HOUSTON - A driver is dead after he was ejected from a car during a crash early Friday morning, Houston police say. A passenger was also taken to the hospital.
The crash was reported shortly after 1 a.m. in the 12200 block of Beechnut Street.

Police say the 36-year-old driver was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when he struck a street sign and several trees.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.

Police say a passenger in the car was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The investigation into the crash continues.
