Actress Reagan Pasternak creates book to help grieving pet owners

Actress Reagan Pasternak has expanded her versatility to the role of author with a heartwarming and interactive tribute to pet lovers coping with loss. "Griffin's Heart: Mourning Your Pet with No Apologies: A Grief Guide, Memoir, Healing Journal, and Keepsake" marries the concept of a book and memorial, inviting readers to actively partake in their healing journey.

The bond humans forge with their pets is undeniable, and their loss can lead to an overwhelmingly silent grief. Pasternak's "Griffin's Heart" provides a comforting voice in navigating this emotional landscape, allowing for an intimate memorialization of a pet's life.

"When we lose an animal, the grief can be as intense as when we lose a human. Embracing mourning as an art rather than just as a source of pain teaches us to grow from it and to honor our pet's memory in a deeper way," says Pasternak.

This project was born from her own loss of her cat, Griffin. In her quest to process her grief, she found a lack of resources and decided to use her personal experience to help others, tackling what she describes as disenfranchised grief. "Acknowledging the depth of the pain is the first step to healing. With 'Griffin's Heart,' my hope is to provide a resource where grieving pet owners can find solace and a sense of community," explains Pasternak.

With its unique combination of journal, workbook, and keepsake elements, "Griffin's Heart" is a tangible platform designed to guide pet owners through their healing process, offering a space for remembering and celebrating their pets. Pasternak has infused "Griffin's Heart" with more than words; it is augmented with compassionate touches such as memorial candles and a special blanket. These elements serve as physical representations of the comfort the book aims to provide.

"I wanted to create something that felt like a big, luxurious hug. The candles and blanket that accompany the book are part of enveloping the reader in warmth and love during their time of loss. It took me a year to perfect every little detail. I put tiny quotes from the book on them," states Pasternak. "I wanted them to smell so perfect. It's sage and oat milk, because I wanted it to be clearing and comforting, and every single detail of my heart goes into every one of these products. I just want people to feel really loved when they're in that kind of pain."
