HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The Ibn Sina Foundation has opened a new medical clinic on Wilcrest, in southwest Houston, that includes dental services. Specializing in affordable dental care for the uninsured and underinsured, the new clinic is offering a variety of services.
Dr. Hina Azam, the CEO of the Ibn Sina Foundation joined Sally MacDonald on FOX 26 Morning News to talk about the new clinic and dental health.
“Dental health is very important because dental health gives you the overall picture of your health in general and it also is noticed that people who have poor oral hygiene suffer from heart disease. It is really important to take care of your oral hygiene, to make sure that you're healthy”, says Dr. Azam
When money is tight dental health sometimes takes a lower priority for people. Gum diseases, bleeding gums, bad breath, are some of the things that need to be taken care of in order to have good oral hygiene.
Gum disease affects 80% of American adults and often the conditions go undiagnosed.
The clinic has 10 areas and is equipped with panoramic x-ray and provides nitrous oxide. Many different dental services are offered including; regular and deep cleaning, root canals, bridges, crowns, implants, dentures and offers patient education and treatment planning.
Dr. Azam explains, “Everybody qualifies for our services. Yes, we do cater to people who are uninsured, underinsured, low income, indigent. We serve all people and we accept major PPO and dental insurances and very soon we'll be doing Medicaid and CHIP.”
“Our regular exam and x-ray is $29. For those who cannot afford, we can work with them and currently as our grand opening special, we are offering free x-ray and exam until the end of the week, November 30, 2018.
