Sakura Gray
Sakura Gray is back home in Houston as a reporter for FOX 26, telling the stories of the very community that raised her.
Born in Japan to a Japanese-Canadian family, Sakura moved to Houston when she was just six months old. She grew up attending Askew Elementary, T.H. Rogers Middle School and St. Agnes Academy.
She stayed connected to her roots by spending Saturdays at Japanese school, maintaining her fluency to this day, and embraced her Canadian heritage on the ice as a competitive figure skater at Sharpstown Ice Center (now Bellerive Ice Center).
She went on to study at the University of Texas at Austin, earning dual degrees in Journalism and Radio-TV-Film while serving as an officer for the Tri Delta sorority.
Prior to joining FOX 26, Sakura spent three years in Northern California with CBS Sacramento and Good Day Sacramento, covering breaking news and community stories. She also hosted Friday Gameday, a weekly traveling show focused on high school sports.
When she isn't reporting, Sakura loves finding new ways to stay active and is on a mission to try every local fitness studio while rediscovering her hometown.
