LIST: Food, water distribution sites in the Houston area
HOUSTON - As residents in the Houston area continue to recover from the winter storm last week, food and water distribution sites are being announced.
Here are some of the distribution events that have been announced.
TUESDAY
GALLERY FURNITURE
In efforts of helping others out as they recover from the winter storm, Gallery Furniture North Freeway (6006 N. Freeway, Houston) will be hosting a Food Bank distribution in their parking lot today from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. This food distribution drive is sponsored by WorkTexas at Gallery Furniture and Neighborhood Schools, Inc.
TOYOTA CENTER
Starting at 11 a.m., Mayor Sylvester Turner, Houston Rockets owner Tilman J. Fertitta and Rockets Head Coach Stephen Silas are partnering to provide a drive-thru water distribution.The event is open to the general public in need of water. Rockets staff members will also provide hand sanitizer and face masks.
Toyota Center (1510 Polk St, Houston, TX 77002). Cars will line up on Jackson Street and follow police and staff directions for distribution.
NORTHWEST MALL
The City of Houston is partnering with Operation BBQ Relief and will serve hot meals on a first come, first served basis at Northwest Mall (9500 Hempstead Road Houston, TX 77092) to provide food to those still impacted by the winter storm. The drive-thru distribution will begin at 10:30 am Tuesday and continue until supply runs out.
WEDNESDAY
SYLVAN BEACH PAVILION
Harris County Pct. 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia partnered with the Houston Food Bank for a pop-up food distribution beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday. This is on a first come, first served basis while supplies last. No registration necessary.
The event will be held at the Sylvan Beach Pavilion at 1 Sylvan Beach, La Porte, TX 77571. Those who attend are asked to stay in their vehicle during the food distribution. Staff/volunteers will place food in your trunk. For more information call (713)274-2222.
