We are getting a break from the heavy rain and storms with much of the area picking up 2-10" of rain over the last 7-8 days. So enjoy the break but be careful in the dangerous heat! Heat advisories are not expected but afternoon temperatures through the weekend should soar into the middle to upper 90s. Heat index values will climb close to 105. So take breaks while working outside and drink lots of water. Also, don't forget the sunscreen! High pressure will break down next week bringing spotty rain and storms back Monday - Wednesday. Temperatures will be a bit less hot next week with more clouds & rain around. Tropics remain quiet across the Atlantic basin.
