A few strong storms may clip our northern counties this evening with a low severe storm threat remaining there. Best chance would be around Conroe and areas north. Models also show the potential for another line of storms Tuesday morning that might make it down to Houston. After that, storm chances will decrease for the rest of the week as heat increases. Get ready for a hot, humid and breezy week ahead. There is a chance for a few strong storms today with the highest risk north of Houston late today and tonight. There is also a slight chance for storms early Tuesday. Beyond that, look for daily high temperatures in the low to mid 90s with a heat index values of 100-105. Overnight low temps will struggle to get below the upper 70s. In the tropics, this will be the first full week of hurricane season and so far everything is quiet.

The upcoming week will feature a bit of a pattern change with less storms and a bit more heat. There's a 20% chance for a few strong storms in Houston Monday with the best chance in the afternoon and evening north of I-10. Rain chances get lower the rest of the week at only 10% as a ridge tries to build in a bit more. Rounds of storms will stay in the forecast through at least Saturday before the pattern calms down. Strong to severe storms are rolling in this evening that could produce some strong wind and hail along with heavy downpours. Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for Houston until 9pm. Models are not in agreement on timing but it appears that a few lines of storms could impact us on Friday, one in the early morning and another in the evening. Severe storm risk increases to a 2/5 for the entire area Friday which will include a damaging wind, hail & very low tornado threat. It won’t be quite hot in Houston today, compared to Memorial Day. Highs today will be in the low 90s with feels-like temperatures around 105 degrees. As we head into the overnight hours, showers and potentially strong storms will move into SE Texas. The Storm Prediction Center has most of our viewing area in a 2/5 likely risk for damaging wind gusts and the chance for hail. The northwest portion of the viewing area is under a 3/5 risk. Dangerous heat is expected on this Memorial Day. There is an Excessive Heat Warning and Heat Advisory in effect until 10pm. Feels like temperatures could reach up to 114 degrees. Stay safe in the heat- drink plenty of water, limit outdoor activities and check on loved ones and pets. Later this afternoon/ evening, there is the chance for an isolated shower or storm mainly north and west.

Be safe in the heat on Memorial Day! There is a Heat Advisory for all of southeast Texas in effect until 10pm Monday. Houston will see peak afternoon feels-like temperatures from 108-113 degrees. Late Monday afternoon into Monday night there is also a possible risk for some strong to severe storms, mainly in the north and western FOX26 areas. These isolated storms could bring heavy rain, strong winds, or hail. There rest of the week will see seasonal temperatures and a few afternoon showers/thunderstorms.
