Two men sent to prison for recruiting Texas teen then selling sex with her

HOUSTON - Two Houstonians are going to federal prison after admitting to recruiting a teenager on social media and trafficking her for sex.  

Demetrius Delaan White, 30, and Deonte Danquise Bailey-Roach, 28, were both sentenced on Monday by U.S. District Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt.

Judge Hoyt sentenced White to 240 months in prison and Bailey-Roach to 144-months in prison, after considering statements from the minor victim and her mother detailing the lasting impact of the teen’s victimization.

Both men pleaded guilty back on Jan. 27.

The men are also being ordered to pay restitution to the victim and serve an additional five years on supervised release following completion of the prison terms, during which time they will have to comply with numerous requirements designed to restrict access to children and the internet.

White and Bailey-Roache will also have to register as sex offenders.

According to authorities, White and Bailey-Roach recruited the victim, who lived in Stephenville, Texas, on social media back in 2017. They brought her to Houston to engage in commercial sex acts.

Over the following four days, they exploited her. The men posted the girl on internet advertisements for commercial sex, during which time more than 300 people expressed interest.

White and Bailey-Roach rented motel rooms for the sex acts, drove her to clients’ homes, and took her to a truck stop. They also had her walk on Bissonnet St, which is known for sex trade.

The men gave the girl drugs before the acts so she would continue doing the activities. They also kept all the cash proceeds.

The FBI and the Houston Police Department, which are both part of the Human Trafficking Rescue Alliance, conducted the investigation.
