Mother, child killed on Richmond Avenue in Houston; brother suspected in killing

Houston police are at the scene of a homicide involving a mother and child in the west Houston-area.

Assistant HPD Chief Bryant reports officers were flagged down by a family member about a death in an apartment at 12360 Richmond Avenue around 2:45 a.m. The person was concerned about their family member and went to check on them. That's when they discovered their bodies.

According to officials, a woman and female toddler have been confirmed dead at the scene.

An HPD detective confirmed the suspect is the brother and uncle of the two victims. All three lived in the apartment together.

They say a domestic disturbance call was initially made to the apartment earlier in the night. However, when officers responded, they were not allowed inside the home and left. 

A couple of hours later, is when family members flagged down the officers to report the incident.
