SAN LORENZO, Calif. - An ambulance en route to the hospital flipped on its side Monday after it collided with an Audi in San Lorenzo, killing the patient inside and injuring four others.
A 74-year-old woman, identified by the Alameda County Coroner as Catherine Sunday, died after the crash at Eden Medical Center. But It is not immediately known if she died because of her condition before the crash or because of the injuries suffered in the crash.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Paramedics Plus ambulance driving south on Hesperian Boulevard collided with a white Audi driving east on Lewelling Boulevard at 11:12 a.m.
Witnesses told CHP that the ambulance had its lights and sirens on at the time of the crash.
The Audi driver suffered moderate injuries and remains in the hospital. The three emergency workers in the ambulance were released from the hospital Monday afternoon.

The intersection of Hesperian and Lewelling Boulevards was closed for several hours during the investigation.
There was no immediate word on who was at fault.
