Overturned tanker closes U.S. Highway 59 in Beasley
BEASLEY, Texas (FOX 26) - The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office says U.S. Highway 59 may be closed through Thursday morning's rush hour after a tanker overturned near Beasley, shutting down southbound and northbound lanes of the highway.
Authorities said the tank would have to be emptied prior to moving it. Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, FBCSO said crews were working on righting the tanker while foaming, and the process could take three to four hours. TxDOT would then need to evaluate the pavement condition.
Authorities say the highway could be closed until Thursday morning and commuters should plan accordingly.
Southbound traffic is being diverted to US 90-A. Northbound traffic will exit FM 2919 to 90-A EB. The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office says traffic is very heavy along the route and asks people to be patient and plan for delays.
