Vigil held for Jarvon Coles, teen killed in Humble

Friends and family of 18-year-old Jarvon Coles gathered to hold a vigil to remember the North Shore football player who was shot and killed in Humble outside a house party. FOX 26's Sherman Desselle has more after he spoke to loved ones.

Jarvon's grandfather, Braxton, coached his grandson in little league. He watched him grow into a star-athlete with pride and spent the last year touring schools with Jarvon, excited about the future.

He hopes anyone with information finds it in their heart to come forward.

"Somebody knows something, there were too many kids out there for no one to know anything," he said. "If you did it, I know it's keeping you awake at night. Turn yourself in."

He says the outpouring of love and support has been overwhelming and the family just got notice on Tuesday that the non-profit in Jarvon's name is officially approved for 501c3 status. The plan is for the non-profit to choose and fund several players through little league and others after high school football.

"We want to make it possible for other kids to reach the same plateau he was in," said Braxton. "They also want to work with other families who have been affected by gun violence, we don't want any family to go through what we've gone through. it's indescribable," he said.
