3-year-old child killed in northeast Houston 5-vehicle crash
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Houston police are trying to determine if the driver of a Cadillac was under the influence when her erratic driving caused a deadly five-vehicle crash on Crosstimbers near Airline Drive.
“The Cadillac is coming at a high rate of speed, erratically swerving through the lanes, hit the Nissan, clipped it, hit the Pontiac here, ran the Pontiac into the pole and then struck this gold Toyota,” said Houston Police Department Sergeant Karl Harris.
Police say the gold Toyota then struck a truck. The driver of that truck left from the crash site in the vehicle.
A 3-year-old child in the Pontiac was pinned under the seats and died. Police say the child was not in a child safety seat.
“The car is pretty mangled," added Sgt. Harris. "We will get a better look at it once we get it towed. Right now, it appears that was not the case.”
Other passengers in the Pontiac were taken to the hospital.
Police are continuing to investigate and said that the Harris County District Attorney’s office will decide what charges to file against the driver who caused this deadly crash.
