Man breaks record with 2,363 pound pumpkin at contest

There is a new pumpkin-growing record holder! A man won the 44th World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, Calif., this weekend with his 2,363 pound mega-gourd and broke the contest record.

Joel Holland, a retired firefighter from Sumner, Wash., reportedly set a new American record for growing the heaviest pumpkin and grew the second heaviest pumpkin ever worldwide. This is Holland's seventh time winning at the contest. He was awarded a prize of $7 per pound totaling $16,541.

The second place pumpkin weighted in at 2,002 pounds.
