Woman shot multiple times by man during hours-long SWAT standoff, HCSO says

A 43-year-old woman was shot multiple times by a man during an hours-long standoff in Atascocita overnight.

Harris County Sheriff's Office says Precinct 4 constable deputies responded to a welfare check in the 20500 block of Atascocita Shores at 11:33 p.m. Tuesday.

Deputies arrived and found a man holding a woman at gunpoint with a rifle. They noticed the woman had a laceration on her head.

The man refused to comply with deputies and fired one round inside the home. That's when HCSO SWAT units responded to the scene.

SWAT officers tried to negotiate with the man for hours, but he would not surrender to authorities.

Officers then sent a robot into the house at 3:09 a.m. Wednesday. When the robot entered, they heard several gunshots fired.

They discovered the woman had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to a Kingwood hospital.

The man was taken into custody without further incident.

It is unclear what the relationship was between the two.
