Vehicle taken after murder recovered in northwest Harris County
CYPRESS, Texas (FOX 26) - Harris County Sheriff's Office confirms that the Chrysler PT Cruiser taken from the home of Pamela Johnson was recovered Saturday night from the Willowbrook Mall Parking lot, in northwest Harris County.
As the sun set on Bent Pine Drive near Sunshine Park Drive on Friday evening, the entire street was blocked off, full of deputies and homicide detectives conducting an investigation.
“Everybody is pretty in shock when they heard the kind of gruesome details of it all, you know," says Cameron Kendrick. "It hits close to home." Kendrick, who lives next door to the crime scene, says the whole neighborhood is shaken up.
Emergency crews arrived to the Cypress-area home at around 6:30 p.m. Friday. Police say the last time anyone had heard from Pamela Johnson, 62, was at around noon on Tuesday.
“Family members were concerned that they had not made contact with this woman for more than a day," says Sergeant Thomas Gilliland with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. "EMS had arrived just prior to the sheriff's office, arriving and pronounce the female deceased inside the home.” He also adds that there seems to be a few things missing from Johnson's home including her PT Cruiser.
“She’s right there and I mean, we get a lot of foot traffic in here sometimes, you know, just people cutting through the neighborhood, so they don’t have to walk down Jones,” says Kendrick.
Friends of Johnson, who worked with her at a nearby Kroger store, stopped by her home and set up a memorial for her on Saturday afternoon.
