HCSO: Robbery suspect accidentally shoots self, knocks on doors for help

Authorities say a robbery suspect banged on people’s doors to ask for help after accidentally shooting himself while jumping over a fence.

According to Harris County deputies, three men with ski masks and guns walked up to a victim in his driveway around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and robbed him of his wallet and other items at gunpoint.

The suspects ran and jumped over a tall fence in the subdivision, officials say.

According to investigators, while jumping over the fence, one of the suspects was carrying a gun and accidentally shot himself in the arm.

He ditched the ski mask and gun and started banging on doors of nearby homes for help, deputies say.

He was taken to the hospital in stable condition. Deputies say he is not cooperating with investigators. The other two suspects got away.
