Burned body found in wooded area in southeast Houston
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Houston police are investigating after a body was found burned in southeast Houston.
Around 7:13 p.m., the Houston Fire Dept dispatched to a report of a small fire in the 5700 block of Wenda. When firefighters arrived, they discovered that there was a body on fire. Firefighters put the fire out and contacted HPD. HPD Patrol officers responded to the scene.
The body was discovered down a small abandoned road that has a gate on it, 30 to 40 yards into the woods. Authorities don't know the cause of death or if the victim is a male or female. The body will taken to the Harris County Medial Examiner's office where a cause of death and ID will be established.
There are no known witnesses at this time. HPD says someone who lived nearby said he didn't see or hear anything.
